CHARLES CAMPISI was the longest-serving Chief of the NYPD’s Internal Affairs Bureau, an elite unit tasked with investigating fellow officers suspected of misconduct, corruption, or worse. Under Campisi’s watch, New Yorkers shot or killed by cops dropped by 90% and the number of cops failing integrity tests plummeted to historic lows (6 out of 500 in 2012).

During his eighteen-year tenure as IAB Chief, Campisi oversaw 750 investigators and led high-profile cases including the 1999 shooting death of Amadou Diallo in the Bronx and the “Cannibal Cop” who was arrested in 2012 for threatening to kill and eat women. When Campisi retired in 2014, he had served for 41 years under four different police commissioners. It had been his dream since he was five-years-old to be a police officer.

Campisi is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, Columbia University Police Management Institute, and Harvard’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. He is currently a Senior VP at the private investigation firm Cyber Diligence and has lectured nationally and internationally including at John Jay College and NYU School of Law.

In his compelling and fascinating new book, Blue On Blue, Campisi describes a shadow world where police officers confront evil. At our November SPI meeting, he will reveal what really goes on—and why—in big city police departments and will describes the strategies implemented to achieve results. The first 20 members to register will receive a complimentary copy of Blue on Blue.
